In the video footage, Robbins can be seen swimming in the ocean, while his friends and fellow passengers appear relatively unconcerned. As the video progresses, Robbins gradually drifts away from the vessel until he eventually disappears into the darkness.
Regrettably, this marked the last sighting of Robbins. The Royal Bahamas Defence Force sought assistance from the U.S. Coast Guard in the search for the young man. Despite their joint efforts, scouring an extensive area of over 325 square miles in the ocean for several days, the search for Robbins was ultimately called off.
U.S. Coast Guard District Seven promptly dispatched multiple search and rescue resources in response to the Royal Bahamas Defence Force’s request for assistance. Our Coast Guard command center and Miami-based aircrews provided unwavering support to the RBDF’s search and rescue operations, commencing from the initial report on Wednesday evening and continuing until Friday evening,” stated Lt. Cmdr. Matthew Spado, Coast Guard liaison officer to the Bahamas. “We were informed by the RBDF this evening that they have suspended the active search efforts, awaiting further developments, and do not require additional assistance from the Coast Guard, after informing the Robbins family. We extend our deepest condolences to Cameron Robbins’ family and friends during this difficult time.”
