Brawl at Montgomery, Alabama riverfront dock caught on video

On Saturday evening, a large battle broke out on a riverfront pier in Montgomery, Alabama, over what looked to be the docking of a pontoon boat, and the city's mayor said several "reckless" people were jailed.

A altercation between a group of people and a man who looked to be a dockworker was captured on film by witnesses aboard a neighboring boat at Riverfront Park about 7 p.m.

The woman filming the video can be heard saying that a worker was moving a docked black pontoon boat after the apparent owners were told they couldn't leave the boat there.

As the worker attempts to move the boat on his own, a group of people approaches and begins to dispute with him, according to the footage. When one person suddenly punches the worker in the head, the verbal fight turns physical.Other members of the group rush the worker and begin hitting and kicking him on the ground. Onlookers react and begin removing the individuals from the worker, who is then seen rising up and heading down the dock on his own.

Reed went on to remark that the "unfortunate incident" should never have occurred."While our police department investigates these heinous actions, we must not become desensitized to violence in our community," the mayor stated. "Those who choose to use violence will be held accountable by our criminal justice system."
